Site visit - Museum of Betina Wooden Shipbuilding

Discover the charms of Betina, a small town on the island of Murter, and learn more about life on the island and traditional wooden shipbuilding in the authentic ambience of a centuries-old stone house - once owned by a shipbuilding family, and now home to the Museum of Betina Wooden Shipbuilding.

The museum preserves valuable knowledge about traditional wooden shipbuilding, which is an important part of European maritime cultural heritage and which, despite modernization, still survives. The exhibited objects of material cultural heritage bear witness to shipbuilding and everyday activities in which the wooden ship is an indispensable part.

It is a place that offers visitors new experience and a unique insight of the past through multimedia content. Through this visit, you will have the opportunity to be part of the tradition yourself and try to make a ship with a sail. After visiting the museum, there is a walk through the town, which is protected as a cultural monument due to the picturesqueness and preservation of the historic core.

The local harbor with moored wooden boats dominates the town as a kind of open-air museum where representatives of local associations from the island will welcome you to give you first-hand information about life on the island.
